Yech! My god, if we all knew all of this, would we care enough to halt the use of bags?? Look at this incredible presentation. Andy Driscoll St. Paul Check this out. http://www.poconorecord.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20080506/MULTIMEDIA02 /80505016 or http://tinyurl.com/6ghx85
You mean halt the use of disposable bags don't you, Andy? Living in
Minneapolis and having to use paper bags for separating my
recyclables (preferred by the city), the only plastic bags I use are
the liners for my solid waste containers; perhaps I'd give the latter
up, but the garbage guys like it bagged, especially the dog poop (I
really like plastic bread and newspaper bags for picking the stuff
up). I don't know if the compostable/biodegradable plastic bags I
have for yard waste will hold up long enough, but perhaps I should
give them a try (they have small ones for my dog poop, I wonder?). I
suppose whatever I do most of it will wind up getting burned up in
the Hennepin Energy Recovery Center (HERC) in Downtown Minneapolis,
so why bother? Anyone know how that composting pilot in Linden Hills
is going?
