Just thought that I'd pass this on to the readers of the Roseville Issues Forum. http://www.startribune.com/local/26175144.html?location_refer=Homepage:latestNews:4
Thanks Brian for sharing.
It's exciting when something you are familiar with is in the
newspaper, but in this case, it's not exactly GOOD news.
The article states:
"Open windows and garage doors, and unlocked doors at unoccupied homes
We [CTC co-operative] had a similar issue last year with residents leaving open
windows, despite increased risk of theft. The answer to the problem was to
install these locking bolts that do not allow you to raise the window more than
x number of inches. Potential solution for residents that like leaving their
windows open or just simply forget to close them.
The Strib article mentions a Crime Alert issued Thursday by the Police Department's Community Relations Coordinator Sarah Mahmud. You can sign up to have those Crime Alerts e-mailed to you when they are issued. There's a menu of eleven different e-mail notifications from which you can choose at http://www.cityofroseville.com/list.asp While you're there, click on the icon for Roseville Listens and you can request services through a Fix-It form or ask questions of staff using the General Inquiry form. Past Crime Alerts can be found at http://www.cityofroseville.com/index.asp?NID=1219 Tim Pratt Communications Specialist City of Roseville, Minnesota
This is good information, Tim. I had signed up for the crime alerts (and other email notifications). It was very easy to do, and very efficient in practice. I would recommend the email notifications to all forum members. Karen O'Brien (who is located in the quadrant of Roseville mentioned in this crime alert!) In a message dated 8/1/2008 11:06:49 A.M. I printed the crime alert out ( from the city website) and plan to post it at
our "night out" neighborhood picnic on tuesday. It is formatted to make a nice
looking little poster.
