Here we are and next weekend the razzmatazz of the Mayor's Newham Show will be
with us... free for all.
Some interesting facts about last year's:
If the Council charged everyone who attended just enough to break even the
tickets would have sold for £7.75 each.
That means that every person in Newham would have had to pay £1.37 towards
subsidising the free entry. Therefore, for every two attendees eleven Newham
residents paid for their "entrance fee" - and that's assuming that every single
person living in Newham pays taxes and council tax.
Is it true that the trees are being taken out of Central Park to build a bigger
entertainment venue? I was told that the working title for the project is
"Circus Maximus".... I could be wrong.
