Last week, I conducted a Community Conversation to discuss Reopening Framingham
based on the Governor's May 18th announcement on Reopening Massachusetts.
We are still in Phase One of the reopening, which began Monday, May 18. The
first phase allowed for the reopening of:
Manufacturing
Construction
Houses of worship
Hospitals and Community Healthcare Centers
Yesterday, the next part of Phase One began, allowing for the reopening of:
Offices outside of Boston (at 25% capacity; Boston offices: June 1)
Retail & libraries for curbside service (Framingham is finalizing its
libraries' curbside service strategy)
Select personal services (Barbershops, Hair salons)
Beaches (Framingham is preparing its beach reopening plan)
Outdoor adventure activities (incl. ski area summer activities, mountain
biking, zip-lines)
Outdoor gardens, zoos, reserves, and public installations
Services and facilities at parks (The City is developing its final reopening
plan for its Parks and Recs' facilities)
Additional healthcare providers for high priority preventative or pediatric
care or care for high-risk individuals (for expanded services)
We are making progress and opening in a way that will help keep us all safe.
Our cases are trending downward, but we must remain vigilant by practicing
social distancing, washing hands, wearing cloth face coverings, and
disinfecting surfaces.
While we are evaluating Phase One, we are actively developing a strategy for
Phase Two reopening based on the Governor's Reopening guidelines and creating a
phased opening for City Hall.
Know that I will always err on the side of safety, but at the same time, I'm
eager to get our economy going.
Watch the Community Conversation
and view the PowerPoint, (see attached) which gives more detail regarding the
phased opening.
Stay safe and healthy Framingham.
