Amended Rules re Political events - With thanks to Linda Dunbrack -As we enter local election season, we want to post the special rules on Nobscot Neighbors pertaining to elections:
ANNOUNCEMENTS OF CANDIDATE EVENTS
*Announcements of political fundraising events are prohibited* on all
E-democracy forums due to the non-profit status of E-Democracy. Campaigns may
invite local voters to other types of “meet the candidate” events, but will
need to use other networks to advertise fundraising events.
CAMPAIGNING ON NOBSCOT NEIGHBORS
1. Direct appeals for votes by candidates are prohibited.
2. Candidates may introduce themselves **once** as a candidate, share links to their campaign websites, articles and letters about their campaign, endorsements, and announce non-fundraising campaign events. For campaign events, campaigns should limit promotion to 2 posts per event, one to give advance notice and one reminder on either the day before or day of the event.
3. Announcements of campaign events are limited to those acting on behalf of the campaign so they we do not get inundated with such announcements. If you think a candidate should be announcing an event on Nobscot Neighbors, please contact the campaign and suggest it.
4. Candidates are encouraged to share their opinions or answer questions on local issues.
ENDORSEMENTS ON NOBSCOT NEIGHBORS
1. Expressing support for a candidate is permitted *as long* as the post is within our local forum scope and meets list all civility rules.
2. Offering views on the local issues that matter to the poster in the election is strongly encouraged.
And one reminder - if you have questions or concerns about the rules contact the moderators OFF LIST. Posting to the list re moderation violates E-Democracy rules and could lead to a suspension of posting privileges
