*** Thanks, Michael for the invite.
*** And Scott, I listen. I hope others listen when I speak. I'll listen when
they do.
*** Well, Linda, I guess something that you don't agree with could be
considered a rant. Same with me from my perspective. You said: "Yet another
anti-immigrant rant. (By definition, a rant is : "1. To speak or write in an
angry or emotionally charged manner; rave. 2. To express at length a complaint
or negative opinion." I would say the post by Ms Ahlstrom qualifies as a rant
on all fronts." I'm not angry, just determined. I will have more that will be
interpreted as a 'rant'. RANT is subjective. And you said it's not the
majority opinion. I believe it is .... they are just reluctant to say so.
The illegals are NOT the root of the problem, just a symptom. But with any
malady, you have to deal with both. But the illegal flood into our country
which eventually requires MASSIVE tax money to deal with the problem is like a
hemorrhaging body. You have to fix the breach and then you deal with the cause
of the massive 'bleeding'. Close the borders, moratorium on immigration.
Immigration IS relevant to Framingham but the impact seems to be covered up at
worst and also ignored - THE ELEPHANT IN THE ROOM. I understand Framingham's
budget consists of 60% for schools, more requests for police presence in
schools and likely on the force throughout, to name a few immediate
expenditures (aforementioned in another/earlier post).
Linda, you said: "Personally, I am proud that I live in a community that
chooses to look at the issue of immigration as a complex one and views it from
a more humanitarian, more compassionate, less alarmist, and less legalistic
point of view. I am proud to live in a community where so many people
appreciate cultural and linguistic diversity, rather than being alarmed by it
or fear its impact."
If Framingham is like other cities, the 'newcomers' are the dominant drug
traffickers and marketers and it is rampant. There is nearly a cone of silence
on 'newcomer' crime. Parents have said "you have no idea what goes on in the
schools". The papers aren't reporting newcomer violence to the degree it is
occurring by at least half. They only like to report on Harold Wolfe who takes
pictures at Logan Express. So why the cone of silence of a prevalent and
repeated problem ... conspiracy of silence?
Mr. Siggins, who is likely an older gentleman, knows what's going on and sees
it for what it is. And again, the drug problem, that's a another story. A lot
of illegals come in with drugs, some are caught. And the papers don't report
what goes on here either, like it's being suppressed ... by design.
So, since the issue of illegal influx has been brought up, the retched policy
of a welcoming arms wide open stance regarding the illegals is irresponsible
and dangerous to the host population ... their numbers will bury the host
population. And as they become a majority, as is happening in the border states
with Mexico, and will happen here, do you think we will be given the same
consideration, rights, assistance we are giving them - taking care of them?
Providing for their every medical need, something the host population pays for
but doesn't enjoy? Do you think they will extend affirmative actions to you,
to us? Doubt it. They don't in their own countries FROM WHICH THEY LEFT.
Certainly won't as they become a dominant force in ours. The immigrant
hemorrhaging into our country is NOT GOOD FOR US.
>From one of Donald Trump's speeches:
"Put American Workers First Decades of disastrous trade deals and immigration
policies have destroyed our middle class. Today, nearly 40% of black teenagers
are unemployed. Nearly 30% of Hispanic teenagers are unemployed. For black
Americans without high school diplomas, the bottom has fallen out: more than
70% were employed in 1960, compared to less than 40% in 2000. Across the
economy, the percentage of adults in the labor force has collapsed to a level
not experienced in generations. As CBS news wrote in a piece entitled
“America’s incredible shrinking middle class”: If the middle-class is the
economic backbone of America, then the country is developing osteoporosis.
"The influx of foreign workers holds down salaries, keeps unemployment high,
and makes it difficult for poor and working class Americans – including
immigrants themselves and their children – to earn a middle class wage. Nearly
half of all immigrants and their US-born children currently live in or near
poverty, including more than 60 percent of Hispanic immigrants. Every year, we
voluntarily admit another 2 million new immigrants, guest workers, refugees,
and dependents, growing our existing all-time historic record population of 42
million immigrants. We need to control the admission of new low-earning workers
in order to: help wages grow, get teenagers back to work, aid minorities’ rise
into the middle class, help schools and communities falling behind, and to
ensure our immigrant members of the national family become part of the American
dream."
Kevin MacDonald said in the August 17, 2015 Occidental Quarterly: "The
populist labor-market critique of immigration policy, pioneered by Senator Jeff
Sessions and based on sound academic research, is finally getting into the
political mainstream. The incredible reality is that putting American workers
first is anathema to elites among both Democrats and Republicans. We talk a lot
about implicit Whiteness here, and it has often been said that implicit
Whiteness is not enough. But certainly the start of the revolution to restore a
White America need not be explicitly White at all. The labor-market argument
applies to the vast majority of Americans, Black and White alike. The idea that
importing millions of uneducated, impoverished Third Worlders into the US — or
any other European-derived country — would actually benefit the country is
ridiculous."
And Lloyd, you said: "I'm very proud to be on that list......It comes
naturally...silence in the face of attacks based on race, religion, etc etc
etc...it not an option. Silence invites ignorance, fear, and all the rest of
the worst of humanity that we have seen in the past century. I
wish....only...that 600 people were on this list instead of 6. Because that
would be the true voice of our community."
I have to agree with you about silence. Silence invites ignorance, and the
worst of humanity displayed this century that championed the cause of communism
of deaths up to as much as 100 million, suppression of nationalistic
expressions, vengeance and retaliation dressed up as justice, censorship of
discussion over issues protected by a small few, jailing of over 100,000 in
Germany alone for challenging a certain 'view'. Yes, if there is liberty to
discuss , to learn, to express, to enjoy, something we take for granted but
increasingly being denied in this country and unfortunately what I have seen
here in Framingham with regard to the Rizolis, then there won't be ignorance.
Have you considered that possibly the other 594 on this forum might feel the
same way as I do but don't post because they are afraid of the ensuing tirade
to their 'freedom of expression'? I've had people email me of their sentiment
and I have encouraged them to post. They seem at best, hesitant to.
I consider the pro-immigrant, pro-diversity postings as rants, but I welcome
the discussion. That's how you learn. After all, didn't I say that when another
of opposing view expresses that, it sounds like a rant! So let's rant away!
