You don't understand, and neither do I, but it is happening anyway. You know
where I live. Drive by some evening.
The new street light at the end of my street illuminates my entire front yard,
side yard, and entire house. The light is very evident INSIDE my house, as the
glaring LEDs are aimed right at the house. It is not possible to block the
light coming into the house, and it is very bothersome and intrusive. I am
extremely unhappy with it, and even unhappier with the absolute lack of any
Town response or any effort to fix the problem. Nothing from the DPW or the
FPD. I called the Town Manager's office this morning and spoke with Sheri, and
explained to her that the buck stops there, after she tried to give me even
more probably equally useless phone numbers to call.
Industrial-strength lighting is not what quiet residential neighborhoods need
or want. These lights are entirely inappropriate for this neighborhood and I
want them taken out.

I don't understand how some people are getting spill-over light into their
homes. The new lights on my street emit noticeably LESS broadcast light. As I
think others have mentioned, the lights are intended to focus the light
directly onto the street and not flood the whole area. Which is exactly what
the ones on Hemenway, Eisenhower, Arbetter, Sloane and Gregory are doing.
The beam is so tight, that even though there is a street light opposite my
house, the yard and sky above are pitch dark, whereas with the prior setup, it
was somewhat illuminated. As a conservationist and wildlife aficionado, I for
one am absolutely delighted with the new lights. I wish the Garden in the Woods
would replace the megawatt floodlight in their parking lot which I can see from
my house 300 yards away.
