new health care plan being debated "
"He pledged to become personally involved in persuading skeptical lawmakers and
warned that failing to pass the legislation would result in trouble at the
ballot box for Republicans who pledged to repeal and replace Obamacare."
I do not in any way mean or intend to begin a discussion about the merits of
the health plan or of Pres. Trump. But, the comment demonstrated the how
politics works in all levels of government and the potential impact a mayor can
have on his appointees or even a city council decision or vote. He who has the
most leverage controls the playing field. This charter puts that kind of power
in the hands of the mayor with a four year term when councilors with two year
terms come up for election. Please vote NO on the city charter!
