*To start a new topic:*
Step 1: Think of a descriptive topic name. This is not the place to be vague or
cryptic.
Step 2: Post using one of the these two options:
Option 1. Compose a new email to framgov AT forums.e-democracy.org
Option 2: Log in to e-democracy and go to the appropriate forum (you will
find a list of your groups if you click home). Look for the link to "start a
new topic" and fill out the form that appears with the topic and the post.
*To comment on an existing topic:*
Option 1 (available only to those who receive each email individually):
Simply hit Reply-to-All and type your comments. It is good etiquette to reduce
the quoted material from prior posts.
Option 2: Log in to e-democracy and go to the appropriate forum (you will
find a list of your groups if you click home). Click on the link to the topic
and fill out the "Add to Topic" form that appears at the bottom of the page and
click submit.
A few things to remember before your post:
1. To post, your profile must include your real name in the Full Name part of
your profile, otherwise your post will be rejected. The "Full Name" becomes
your signature. Only people who share an email address need to sign posts
manually any more.
2. All posts are *public* and permanent. So think before you post. Double-check
your facts and your spelling. Don't post anything you wouldn't want your mother
or your children reading.
3. Email addresses are obscured on the web to protect privacy and prevent
spambots from harvesting. However, you need to adapt how you type. If you want
an email address to be displayed, use AT instead of @ in the email address. See
my example above.
3. Formatting will not show up in any post. However, it also does not create a
problem in your message as it did in the old system.
4. This forum does allow attachments, unlike the old system. You can upload
files if you are using the web to post instead of email.
5. Stay on topics related to town government in some way. There is a forum on
national issues on edemocracy that you can join if you want to discuss those,
but they do not belong here.
6. Be civil: no threats, insults, rumors, speculation on the motives or
characters of others. Refer to our charter if you think this might be a
potential issue in your post:
