Here are some suggestions:
1. Filter and delete! There is absolutely nothing wrong with ignoring posts
from people that you consistently find personally annoying or offensive or
about topics that you find uninteresting. Feel free to either delete posts
without reading or use a filter to put all posts from those you would prefer
not to see them from directly into your trash. You have no obligation to either
read them or debate their authors, as with any other any random Internet
posting.
2. Switch to the Topic Digest. If volume is your primary concern, consider
switching to digest mode. Instead of getting all emails individually, you will
get a single email with snippets from each of the days posts. You can scan for
topics of interest and click to read them online. I use this option for
Frambors.
