The short story is this: the Chief of Police requested that the BOS reconsider
because they were concerned about their ability/the drain on resources to
monitor the safety, security, and health of the facilities. Lee, Smith and
Sisitsky voted in favor of reconsidering their votes. Stoll and Bower voted
against it. A motion to reconsider required votes from 4 of 5 selectmen to be
successful.
I am glad that they went with their original vote. If Framingham wants to
encourage economic growth and investment, the BOS can't be wishy-washy in its
decision-making. The hearings and vote on the dispensaries were very well
publicized. That was the time for the Chief to make his case, in my opinion,
not after the fact.
