I am not actually home enough to watch TV but today I'm watching some past ZBA
meetings on the govt channel which I find very interesting.
Then comes up next a meeting at town hall with the Brazilian community and I
think a woman representing the Brazilian Consulate. I didn't catch the
beginning of it but I believe that was her..Correct me if I'm wrong.
So the major players for the town are there; selectmen, town manager, police
chief, a lot of Brazilians representing the community etc...
I sit in amazement to see how a town can lose a battle for representation and
now it's just accepted that a group of people from a foreign country like
Brazil who represent such a small percentage of our population can wield so
much power in the town, and the town allows it even though they know a lot of
the people from Brazil who this meeting was about are not here legally, and
working here illegally.
Seems like no one cares about that small point. But again they never did.
This small group of people have enough power to, I believe, have their
programming shown on the Govt channel.
Imagine that, a foreign group can have their programming shown on our Govt
channel but when I as a Framingham Citizen, ask to present a local interest
program dealing with history or something more relating to Framingham, I can'
get it shown on the govt channel but the Brazilians can. Go figure!
So now we have the citizens of the town actually being put out of the picture
on what is important to them. To show how bad it is I can't even volunteer my
services free to video the BOH meetings and get them on the Govt channel or
AFTV, and what I'm trying to show are local updates from the Board of Health or
local interest stories.
I think we have lost it as a town and there is really no going back. New
visitors get what they want, like their own TV programming in their own
language even. What is important to us Americans is now 2nd place to those
that just waltz in and take over.
This is not hate, this is not racist, it's just the way it is.......
