How can the Town totally ban any use? Even adult entertainment has
an allowed area in Framingham.
This seems very discriminatory.
Its bad enough new medical is NOT allowed in business.
What next ?
“Choose Framingham” was supposed to help us bring businesses to Town.

Subject: [FramGov] Last Minute Changes to Zoning Recod
A subcommittee of the SCPZ, together with a representative of the planning
board, a representative of the ZBA, the Planning Board Administrator and
town counsel had been working on the recodification for months. At the last
meeting this possible change was raised and rejected because it was a
significant change that should not be made at the last minute.
I also question whether such a major change can legally be made without
proper publication and notice.
Whether you agree with the substance of the change, it should not be done
last minute.
As to the substance, it is unfair to just force these businesses out of
town. Moreover, it puts an unreasonable burden on our overburdened building
department to try to enforce this. It is better to regulate them then to
send them in to hiding. Moreover, there are some locations where this is a
very good use and maybe the most reasonable use.
Sometimes it is better to bring things out into the open and to regulate
them rather than to drive them underground. Not to mention, people should
be able to make a reasonable use of their property and to have a business
where they can make a living.
Whether you agree or disagree with the substance, it is wrong to make such
massive changes at the last minute without adequate advertisement or
discussion. Moreover, it is a slap in the fact to those people who worked
so hard for so long on the recodification to make this kind of end run
around them.
Full disclosure, I was the ZBA rep. But now I am speaking solely for
myself.
