Please, keep in mind that the EPIF forum has been set up for those of
you considering launching an Issues Forum or ePanel in your home
community.

Last month, I had a very productive two weeks of doing workshops and
meeting with local councils to talk about setting up Issues Forums.
It appears that I'll be back in the UK the last week of March, for
more workshops and training. If your council is considering an Issues
Forums, please let me know.

Here is an update on what is happening in the world of
E-Democracy.Org Issues Forums. I look forward to hearing updates or
questions from others.

March 2nd was the big E-Nauguration of St. Paul E-Democracy. The
Issues Forum in St. Paul is over six years old and has now officially
morphed into a community organization committed to increasing citizen
engagement thru the use of digital tools. We had the largest
E-Democracy.Org event ever, with almost 100 local participants
showing up for a reception and panel discussion.

For the first time in St. Paul, we got the Mayor to participate in
one of our events. In addition, about half of the city council and
elected school board served as honorary "hosts" for the event.

The St. Paul E-Democracy is looking to integrate the local Issues
Forum with a broader base of activities. Our most likely first
effort, will be to partner with local libraries to offering on-site
e-citizenship tutoring for library patrons. Basically, we'll provide
a St. Paul E-Democracy volunteer to work 1-2 hours a week in the
libraries showing patrons how to accerss our Issues Forum as well as
many other important online services for citizens.
