Just a congratulations to Roseville Human Rights Commission Chairwoman Janet
Delmore in winning her jury trial case against the Roseville Police
Department this afternoon.
My very basic understanding of the case was that Janet was charged with some
obscure Roseville city law, that appears was passed during the Vietnam
protester era, which had to do with unknowingly interfering with the actions
of a police officer.
A jury heard testimony from several people including officer Brady Martin,
Janet Delmore, and others at the scene. Chief Carol Sletner was in the
audience observing but was not called to testify. The jury unanimously
decided that Janet Delmore was Not Guilty.
The word I received was that there were a few Roseville residents observing
the trial so hopefully one of them is a member of this forum and fill in the
details.
Hopefully one or two of the council members and/or police department
employees that offered harsh words about Delmore in the newspaper when the
incident happened, prior to her even being charged with a crime, will be
gracious enough to offer a public apology.
