online exchange on this topic.
The format is simple:
1. Put out a call to join an online group on this topic.
2. Make sure traditional crime prevention folks are invited
3. Open a dialogue for two weeks once 200 show up in a simple online group
4. Share information and knowledge
Does this interest you? It is best to have a neutral host and not someone
with a business interest in the space as the "chair" so to speak.
With a couple volunteers in place, we can set-up the online group in
minutes ... stay tuned ... but I'll point http://e-democracy.org/crime to
it if this is a go.
I should note my opinion that open data on crime or at least near real-time
mapping of crime data is the most important opportunity for the open
government community to show the value of this often abstract concept to
everyday folks seeking real utility.
