Cook County Conversations

To extend discussion of public issues affecting Cook County into an online, interactive forum that encourages the respectful sharing of opinions, ideas and insights by county residents and visitors, including elected and appointed public officials.

Purpose

The purpose of the Cook County Conversations is to provide an online forum for open, constructive community conversations..

Goals

The goals of Cook County Conversations are:

  • To create a safe, civil and informative platform for residents and visitors of Cook County to discuss issues that affect them.
  • To facilitate stimulating and effective discussions between individuals, organizations, elected officials.
  • To maintain diversity in the topics, membership and discussions of the forum.

Typical Topics

Topics that you might find here to discuss include:

  • What do you see as the pros and cons of moving to a 4 day school week as a way to save money for the school district?
  • Review and discuss the current plans for the rec park in Grand Marais.
  • Do you support the 1% Sales tax and if so, what projects should be on the list?
  • What is CCLEP and how will it affect me?
  • Do you think ultra-broadband infrastructure is an area that local government should be involved in building for the community?

By taking part in this forum, you accept the full rules of the forum.

  • Be calm, civil and polite in your posts. Respect the views of others. One of the main purposes of this forum is to provide a safe comfortable discussion platform for everyone.

Forum Manager

The Forum Manager in Cook County Conversations is Steven Clift.

The volunteer Forum Manager is responsible for the general health and well-being of the forum. The Forum Manager shall:

  • enforce forum rules
  • respond to participant questions
  • listen to complaints or concerns
  • encourage active participation
  • maintain respectful tone of discussion
