Every New Member is Moderated. Moderation will be turned off probably
when you make your first post. Or if you've been a member for a little
while.
If we have a successful Hands-Up the moderators are going to be very
BUSY. That's OK it will allow us to unmoderate all the people we KNOW.
From Burwood Michelle Millard asks why you can reply to the mail and
not use a password, but if you go to the website, you need to log in. -
That's simply a security issue Michelle. - The public have access to the
website, even people who are not members. Only members can write to the
group; hence the need to log in.
With an email reply, your email system verifies who you are.
Michell also asked how do we know which forum this is? Look at the
email address: cc-woolston; cc-central, c-papanui, you can see how they
work.
From St Albans, Ninefish jumps the gun and tells us where he was at 12:51.
The question hasn't been asked yet, and it might be a day or so before I
do ask it. We need to stagger the asking of the question because of the
moderation problem.
One other issue: You can't be "Ninefish" and be legal in this forum. The
rules say "Real Names". Thats a trust issue in Neighbours forums. If
people use real names, disinformation and abuse is almost nonexistent.
Furthermore, our experience is that moderation generally ceases to be
necessary. Moderation is possible but seldom used.
From Opawa Ruth tells me that she can't work out how to "Post".
But she in fact posted successfully.
On email simply "Reply" and the message goes to everyone in the group.
It's "best" but not essential to remove the previous posts before you
reply.
You can go to the web site and reply there. I actually like to do that.
However, you need to Login as Michelle found out.
From Aranui; Pat Hessey is also answering a question I have not asked
yet. Too keen Pat.
FINALLY:
The subject line:
The subject line tells you what the message is about.
I'm replying to a topic "What's a Hands-Up?"
But what I've written is NOT about that. So you can see I've changed the
topic.
This letter is about "Using the Forum" so I've made a new topic, just be
changing the subject line.

Temp: Moderator of some forums here.
PS. And even my Co-Moderator Andrew Groom is jumping the gun and
answering a question I have not asked YET. On the Papanui Neighbours
Group. KEEN, some of us. That's good.
