and this project could make a real difference in our community – now more than
ever!
Basically what we want to do is to find people who have excess fruit on their
trees that they would be prepared to donate, and we will go out and pick that
and either preserve it (or make jam, lemonade, marmalade etc) and give it to
charity, or give it as is. We would also be extremely grateful for donations of
fresh vegetables (people who have heaps of rogue potatoes like I do, and we can
dig these/help harvest) and even nuts.
We need to find people with trees that provide more fruit than they can get
through that they'd like to donate to charity - we will come and pick this
fruit, or if they'd prefer to collect it themselves we can come and pick it up
or they can drop it off to us. We need volunteers who can help pick fruit (no
obligation here, you can just help where/when you can), or to make
jams/preserves etc or think they may be able to help in any way at all! Please
don’t be shy in coming forward to volunteer, we need people on board!
Since we’re just setting up we’re also looking for donations of equipment. We
need: boxes (preferably shallow) for storing fruit, jars (just recycled jars
are fine, they don’t have to be flash just old mayo, jam jars – preferably with
lids), plastic bags, gardening or rubber gloves, old brooms, old rakes, old
soda bottles (2.25L is preferred) or for those feeling especially generous
ladders/step ladders. Obviously as well as helping a worthy cause this is a
fantastic way to recycle!

member of Facebook to view this page)

e-mail at <email obscured> by potential volunteers.
