*- Wed, May 14, 5:00-8:00 p.m. - Coordinated Street Furniture Program
open house.* If you take a trip down many Minneapolis streets, you'll
see bus shelters, benches, trash receptacles, and other "street
furniture" that has an impact on how our neighborhoods look, feel, and
function. As part of Minneapolis' plan to begin replacing that furniture
in 2009, residents and businesses are invited to share their input on
what the new furniture should look like at a public open house this

*- Thurs, May 15, 5:30-8:30 p.m. - The Area B Parent Advisory Council
(BPAC) Meeting.* Meetings work to make Area B schools more
family-friendly and responsive to community needs. The Council gathers
parents, community members, staff, and district leadership together
monthly to share information on the current challenges and opportunities
for Area B schools. Spaghetti Dinner/Student Talent 5:30- 6:30pm/Council
Agenda 6:30 – 8:30pm. FREE Child Care and Interpreters will be provided!

studio and art festival, Art-A-Whirl provides visitors with a unique
opportunity to experience art in various stages and genres, meet the

*- Fri, May 16, 4:00-8:00 p.m. - Roosevelt High School Mosaic
Intercultural Arts Festival.* This is our 7th year of sharing the many
talents found at Roosevelt. We will have 36 booths showing student
work, art work for sale, alumni artist Anthony Hary, comic book
designer, ethnic foods, and stage performances. Admission is free. There
will be activities for the family, good food, many things to buy, and a
stage performance for you too enjoy until 8:00.
*- Sat, May 17, 9:00-11:00am. – Perennial Swap at Word of Grace Baptist
Church*. Come meet other garden enthusiasts and exchange gardening
information. This swap is for perennials and gardening related items
such as bird houses, gardening books, bird baths and garden ornaments.
No house plants or annuals. We are asking for plants that are well
established, of good size and in gallon pots or larger. PLEASE (if
possible) MARK ALL PLANT MATERIALS WITH THE PLANT NAME AND CARE
REQUIRED. Complimentary garden pinwheels and refreshments will be

*- Tues, May 20, 7:00 p.m. – SENA Graffiti Task Force*. Planning for
June mural project funded by a grant from the City of Minneapolis'
Innovative Graffiti Prevention program. SENA office (1830 42nd St E)
