A wide range of activities are planned for the day. There¹ll be: · information stalls to showcase the range of services, organisations and activities available in the city · video screenings from the Have Your Say campervan. This will give you the chance to question a panel of councillors and partners · workshops and free training on many aspects of getting involved, including becoming a councillor, learning how to debate and using social media If you want to talk politics or challenge the city¹s leading figures on any issues that are affecting you at the Question Time event, email your question to <email obscured> <mailto:democratic.services%40brighton-hove.gov.uk> or send it to the address below. Hi Folks!
Steven Clift has managed to reserve a stand at the Local Involvement event on
Saturday 21st November so that we can introduce/demonstrate e-democracy and
sign up people who are interested in joining the B&H Issues forum.
If anybody would like to get involved on the day, we still need need a couple
of volunteers for either session
* Set-up/10am-1pm
* 1pm-5pm/Take down
We could also use someone who can make a simple banner for the table viz
"Sign-up - Local Online Discussion - Brighton & Hove Issues Forum"
If you would like to help, please either email me direct or post to the forum
if this is easier.
Thanks - Mike
PS: If you are planning to come along to the Local Involvement day, do please
come and say "hello" as it would be nice to put some faces to the names in this
forum.
Will the stand be able to demonstrate that e-democracy.org in general and
Brighton & Hove Issues Forum in particular are run e-democratically?
David Botibol
Hi David!
I'm not entirely sure what you mean by demonstrating that e-democracy is run
e-democratically but why not come along on the day and find out? We could also
do with a couple more volunteers if you (or anybody else) are available.
Hello Mike/all
just to let you know that SCIP is involved in the Get Involved Day so I will
be there, certainly in the morning and possibly in the afternoon
let me know how plans are going and I'll see how I can help
Thanks
Mark

Hi Mark
Thanks for offering to help on the day but I would imagine you'll be quite busy
with the SCIP stand, no?
However, if you have a couple of clip boards we can borrow, it will save me a
trip to Staples next week.
See you on the day...
Mike
NB: Don't forget everybody that today is the last day for sending in your
Question Time questions. Please see Steven's earlier post in this thread for
full details.
The Get Involved event is just about to start. Please come and support us if
you're free today.
Mike
It was nice to finally meet some of you in person at the "Get Involved" event
last Saturday and I'd also like to extend a warm welcome to the new members who
signed up on the day.
I think most of the exhibitors would agree that footfall from the general
public was a bit disappointing and at times it felt like we were often speaking
to those who were alread converted but this is to only to be expected when you
think how limited the advertising was for this event. Indeed, quite a few
people said they had heard about Get Involved here first on the B&H Issues site
so many thanks to Joyce for bringing it to everybody's attention.
Mike
PS: Many thanks also to Mark @ SCIP for the laptop loan.
I know that Mike Snewin is going to give me grief for posting this photo of him
and the Mayor, Councillor Ann Norman at the 'Get Involved' event! But he made a
very good job of chatting up Madam Mayor for E-Democracy
The other shot here is of the Speed Meet between councillors and young people -
there are lots more in our album which you can access - read on!
The My Brighton and Hove Photographer Tony Mould - our website for those of you
who don't know us is www.mybrightonandhove.org.uk and we are a local history
and community site, was at this event. We cover most of the Mayor's visits
around the city and we have a private online album of 83 large format images of
'Get Involved' which you can access for the very small sum of a £5 donation to
our site. You can then use the images as you wish as long as we get our proper
copyright credit. (We receive no direct funding and this is our main source of
income) Unfortunately it is not possible to give previews - but if you would
like to find out how you can access the album - mail me.
