This is the invite Dan Jellinek and I sent to candidates/parties today. Assuming the parties pass along the invite we should see a handful of candidate introductions. As they come in, feel free to forward those in your ward to your neighbors. Steven Clift E-Democracy.Org Calling All B&H Local Election Candidates: Share Your Views! - Want to reach a few hundred local voters in one fell swoop? - Want to share your message via online discussion? The organisers of the Brighton and Hove Issues Forum invite contributions from all candidates, both now and after the elections. We are neutral, non-partisan space where any local public issue can be discussed using email and the web. To start we simply ask that you post a short introduction to the online Brighton & Hove Issues Forum. Noting the election time-line, the sooner you post the better. * How to post If you are a registered participant simply post from a campaign/personal e-mail address to: <email obscured> If you are not registered, simply register via the web (and confirm via e-mail) first from: http://e-democracy.org/brighton-hove If you would like us to forward your introduction for you, send it by May 1st to: <email obscured> In your introduction's Subject line, list your: Full Name, Ward, Party In the body of the message, please answer to two simple questions: 1. Who are you? Tell us about yourself. 2. Why are you running for office and what issues are most important to you? While there is no word limit, keeping each answer under 250 words is best. In addition to the "imprint" of your campaign postal address at the end of your post, please add whatever contact information you feel appropriate. (Note: There is no cost to share your introduction nor are any "notional expenses" generated.) You may optionally attach your photo, a PDF of a flyer about you (and other ward candidates in your party), an MP3 audio file, any web links (like to your own YouTube video), etc. to your e-mail. The optional files will automatically go into our server's file area and not result in large e-mails to participants. * Why post? You'll reach hundreds of local residents passionate about the local community. They each know hundreds of voters. You also be able to tap the pulse of the community before and after the election. Also, Google indexes our site daily so anything you post will probably be found by the curious voter seeking candidate information. * Is there a digest version? Once you register you may easily choose a digest version of the forum by sending the command "digest on" in the subject line to: <email obscured> Welcome. And when the election is over, you'll be part of England's most active local online forums for public participation that includes elected officials. Sincerely, Dan Jellinek, Brighton and Hove E-Democracy Steven Clift, E-Democracy.Org
