Did you know that one of Southville's oldest stone buildings is ear-marked for
demolition?
Plans are being made to demolish the buildings on Cooperage Lane and build over
100 flats.
The Cooperage Group is a group of local people concerned over the scale of the
development, loss of local employment space, and increased pressure on parking.
Scheme will also front onto Coronation Rd (no's 171-178 at present), which is
in conservation area.
includes the building last used as Enterprise car hire
Pre-application shown to public in February 2007 included three five-storey
buildings
City Planners are reported not to have liked it.
Second round pre-application has not been shown to public as at early October
2007
City planners are also reported not to have liked it
Residents were alarmed by the sudden demolition of Superbyke on Coronation Road
(in the conservation area adjacent Enterprise) as no-one gave any warning to
residents about it in June.
New website opened at http://www.cooperagegroup.org.uk/
Its not yet the "best in the west" but give it a try and come back again later
also when it will hopefully be better!
web men at work!
:)
All best

The developers have already demolished an old house which was a bat
roost on the site ( they said it was an emergency as the building was
unsafe!) so it will need a concerted effort to save this stone
building. Tess
